Donated by the members of Westleigh Rugby Club. First contested on Saturday 11th of November 1922.
The event was recorded in the Leicester Chronical thus:
“By presenting a beautiful silver Cup to the Rothley Park Golf Club, the Westleigh Rugby Football Club has made a name for itself in other sporting circles. It has been named the Rothley Charity Trophy and will be played for annually.
The first meeting was held last Saturday in aid of the soldier patients at the Base Hospital, where cigarettes and other comforts are greatly needed.
So well did the members respond to this deserving cause that the handsome sum of £10.10s was realised from the entries.
The first holder of the Cup is Mr.P.E. Ashwell, who did uncommonly well to return a nett score of 74 from a handicap of 26.”
