Result – Whittington Heath 4 points – RPGC 3 points
Whittington Heath Golf course has undergone a massive transformation to accommodate HS2, the scar running through the course is bounded by metal security fencing. 5 holes have been replaced the remainder re-configured, the former are still raw with large areas of unplayable waste ground adjacent to fairways.
In gale force winds, outbursts of torrential rain at times bearing hailstones, sat navs that required up-dating, RPGC A team; Geoff Warren, Mike Howell, John Dekonski, Andy Horsley, Ken Earp, James Needham and Pat Footitt, endeavoured through shear doggedness to play the beautiful game to the best of our ability and whilst we didn’t win, losing 4/3 to Whittington Heath, we did remarkably well given the circumstances.
