Scott Wormleighton Wins the Gerald Micklem Cup at Sunningdale Golf Club
Scott birdied the last hole of this highly prestigious 54 hole competition for a score of 67, which was the lowest score of the competition.
Scott’s three round score of 216, played in blustery, showery conditions, secured a place in a play off with Tom Robson from Rowlands Castle Golf Club in Hampshire.
The first playoff hole is a 460 yard par four played into a strong wind. Both players came up just short of the green in two, Scott was left with a 25 yard downhill chip with about 5 feet of break. His 60 degree wedge was played to perfection, over a greenside bunker and straight into the hole for a winning birdie.
In the last two years Scott has won the two most prestigious Mid Amateur competitions in the country, the Logan and Gerald Micklem Trophies. Many congratulations.
