What a fantastic first darts evening we had last night at Rothley Park. The atmosphere was brilliant from the moment the first dart was thrown – plenty of friendly banter, competitive spirit, and everyone already fighting for position in our inaugural darts league.
The “walk‑on songs” were a highlight in themselves. The Green Jackets, led by Ben Boivin, strutted their way to first place, but The Triple T’s under Past Captain Darren Gilbert were hot on their heels as were The Darts Never Has Beens led by Nick Viney, and The Red Arrows captained by Bob Garfield, all putting in strong performances.
A special mention goes to The Flighty Fillies led by Jan Dorn and the ever‑entertaining “Better with Wine” team led by Rita Dekonski. One of the funniest moments of the night had to be when two of the ladies from Better with Wine came very close to beating two of the men from The Green Jackets – especially as the rest of the Green Jackets seemed to have mysteriously “swapped sides” to cheer them on.
All in all, a brilliant start to what promises to be a lively and memorable league. Looking forward to the next game on the 10th February.
