Many congratulations to our Club Champion, Scott Wormleighton who won the L&RGU Amateur Championship for a 2nd time at Glen Gorse golf club with scores of 67 and 72 = 139, 5 under par total. Scott won the title on the second hole of a sudden death playoff with Richard Wale. After both birdied the 1st with Scott’s putt lipping out for Eagle, his birdie on the 2nd playoff hole (12th hole) was enough to seal the win. Scott will now represent L&RGU in the England Golf County Champions of Champions at Woodhall Spa on 7th and 8th September.
The last Rothley Park player to win the County Strokeplay Championship was Peter Haddon in 1974. Exactly half a century ago.
